They are keeping DH another night

I feel like they are looking for something that just isn't there.  Everything keeps coming back normal so the doctor keeps ordering more and more tests.

I seriously think DH is a hypochodriac and his mom feeds into it which makes it even worse.

I pray that nothing is wrong because I know I will regret saying all this, but I think it is just ridiculous that he is in the freaking hospital for no reason.

  • so, yes your MIL sounds insane. but i wouldn't argue with a dr who thinks they should do thorough testing. i am a bit of a hypochondriac myself and it's totally my mother's fault. she scared the shite out of my when i was little about all the things i could catch. so dh usually has to deal with my freaking out. but when he is supportive and encourages me to find out for myself, that is when i usually start feeling better. i hope your dh is fine.
  • Good luck.

I just read your OP. Total violation of HIPAA provided he did anything other than confirm he was a patient. We have to do HIPAA education every year at work. If someone calls about a patient we can confirm they are a patient there (unless we're told otherwise) and that's it without the patient's consent to release more information.

I'd contact the office and let them know that you are upset his medical care was discussed and that his privacy was breached. And I'd have gone off on my MIL already...

Just curious, but how is it a violation of HIPAA?  I included this in the original post, and I thought it was pretty clear that it wasn't a violation of HIPAA.  It's from the department of health so I figure it's accurate.  https://www.hhs.gov/ocr/hipaa/consumer_ffg.pdf
