Re: Potty training, and car rides?
Your DS may surprise you and hold it for the ride. I would make him go right before you leave the house and go again as soon as you arrive.
We decided not to use pull-ups in the car, I made up some piddle pads and have extra clothes in the car at all times. She has only ever had one accident, and that was probably my fault for deciding she could go "one more store" before bringing her to the bathroom.
If you decide to put him in pull-ups I would change him as soon as you get there and still make him go (or at least try) right before leaving.

What PP said, they tend to hold it pretty well. It's good to stay home for two days or so so if they do have an accident it's not as big of a deal, and it puts less pressure on them. I try to not give my LO any liquids a half an hour prior to leaving the house.
When I first started potty training I thought DD would pee every ten minutes, but honestly she pees every 3 hours, or 2 on average.
