A few days ago I posted about brushing LOs teeth.
I think I read that some moms give their LOs fluroide. I know in the past that was highly recommended, but now all I read/hear is that you should not give your LO fluroide for at least the first 2 years as they can easily end up with fluorosis.
And I know it can happen as my DH has it. He has white spots all over his teeth. He certainly has no cavities and his teeth are rockhard, but they aren't really pretty. I didn't get fluroide supplement as a kid and was on a lot of meds in my young age which caused major cavities. I don't have this issue now but that's the other side of the story.
I"m not bashing/judging the parents who do it, not in the least bit, I'm actually just curious what their pediatritians/dentists say about this? My pedi didn't say anything about this at all. He just looked at DDs mouth, said eyeteeth are coming next (he was right) and that was about it, so I do need to talk to him about that (I kind of forgot to ask )
Anyways, just curious what info you have gotten from so called professionals :P And yes, I will still make my own decision based on what i'm comfortable with and after speaking to my pedi. I"m just curious as it's amazing how different the info can be we get from the docs.

I'm lucky if I can get DD to put the toothbrush in her mouth at all!
Hmm. After reading your post, I'm thinking twice about giving DS flouride. At DS 1 year dentist visit, the pediatrics dentist prescribed 0.5mg of flouride daily because the town we live in doesn't have flouride in our water. She spotted a few cavities and said that she had to fill them in before it spreads... but I'm also curious/wondering if it's absolutely necessary to put DS through that horrific experience (DS will be put in a straight jacket) and have the cavities filled... I mean.. baby teeth do fall out eventually..
I'm right there with ya!!
