Ok, so last week, G had his first poo that was significantly non-EBF. I didn't catch it because he'd eaten squash, which was the same color as his normal poos. Anyway... I tossed that diaper in with all my others like normal and wound up with orange stains on about half my stash I'm fairly certain they'll sun out (if this snow ever stops!), so I'm trying not to be too bothered by that.
Because of that, though, I decided I should probably start figuring out what I want to do with poo diapers now that he's eating more foods. So today, he filled a diaper (keep in mind, his poo is still somewhere between the texture of guacamole and peanut butter on a regular basis), and I decided to attempt the swish method (we don't have a diaper sprayer). Since we live in Germany, our toilets are all eco, so they don't really hold water in the bowl. I flushed and swished as much as I could, and it got some, but not a ton. Our toilets also take about 10 minutes to "reset" after flushing (annoying quirk of our house), so it's not practical for me to simply flush a few times to really get the poo. Is my best bet a spatula, or do you ladies have any other suggestions?
Sorry for the rambling... I tend to get wordy
Re: Ew... Also, Poo Help Please?
Many ladies use a spatula with success. Maybe you could use it and then flush for any other residue on the diaper?
Also, if you have a bucket, you can use your kitchen sprayer or bathtub faucet to rinse the diaper off into the bucket, and empty the bucket into the toilet. I wouldn't really make it my go to method because it's kind of a pain, but I've done it in a pinch when A unexpectedly had a real nasty poop at my mom's house.
Suddenly my life doesn't seem such a waste,
It all revolves around you.
DH and I talked about a diaper sprayer, and I think if we were in the states, that's the direction we would go. The problem doing it in our current house is that all the plumbing for the toilet is covered and/or hidden. Since we rent our house, I'd be a little hesitant to do anything that involved trying to access the pipes.
I think a spatula is probably our best bet. Up until this point, I had somewhat ignored the fact that we would need to take care of real poo at some point
Well since you are in Europe, this is a fair question I think...how close together are your sink or tub faucets to the toilet? You can get those hair washing sprayers that just pull on and off the faucet and if the two are close enough you could use it to spray into the toilet.
Other than that, I got nothing because I do the swish but have a US toilet....
Thanks for all the suggestions!
Our bathtub has a hand-held shower sprayer, and it's right next to our toilet, but the faucet itself is on the opposite side, so I can't figure out how I'd get the sprayer turned on and over the toilet without getting water everywhere. I'll try the TP method next time and then decide
