Babies: 3 - 6 Months

What size clothes to buy for summer?

My LO is 4 months this week and she's wearing 6 month clothes. She's about 15 lbs. Idk how long she is, we haven't had our 4 month appt yet. But it seems like she'll need new onesies before new pants (must be a little short) I'm seeing a lot of sales on summer clothes coming out so I'm trying to figure out what size I should buy. I live in south GA, so summer lasts from April / May - Sept. Could I get away with just buying 12 month clothes and skip 9 month? Or is there a big difference between the two? I don't want her to look ridiculous and have her clothes falling off. Is there anyone who's LO is / was on the same track that can enlighten me on their experiences?

Re: What size clothes to buy for summer?

  • I would go bigger. A lot of summer clothes for girls are rompers and dresses, so it doesn't matter if they are a little big.

  • I would stick with one piece things that won't really matter if the sizing is a little off. We live in Florida so like you summer is basically half the year. I don't think you can totally skip 9 months though. I remember DS was in 9 months longer than any other size (from about 7 months to almost a year... he's a peanut). They grow really rapidly up to about 6 months old and then slow down a bit. I say get a combo of 9 and 12 months stuff, expecially since your LO can wear summer clothes until basically November.
