Excessive holding

Anyone else have to holdcarry their newborn all the time? My LO is 8 weeks. And I love to snuggle and hold her but she never let's mommy have a break from it. Even when were home I have to walk around the house with her in the moby wrap or my Ergo. I can lay her down for naps and that's it. As long as she's in a carrier she'll be totally happy. Dishes, vaccum, anything. The minute she's put down = instant cry fest.

Anyone else going through this??

Re: Excessive holding

  • Here too! I love handing DS3 off to to my 9 year old. They're best friends!

  • Week 8 was bad for us with that too. It's better now

  • I am so in this! DD is 7 wks, and I have become a master of daily tasks with 1 hand. I am hoping she gets out of it soon, and I hope your LO does too! On the plus side, you'll have a crazy strong arm (:

  • My DD is the same way and she is 12 weeks. I can't even put her down for naps. By the end of the day my entire body hurts. She hates the Bjorn. I can't even sit down with her after feeding. I put her on my shoulder and she kicks and cries until I walk around with her. Already high maintenance. God only knows what im in for when she's a teenager!!!
  • Same thing with my 8 week old.  Luckily she'll tolerate the Bjorn for awhile so I can get things done.  I just keep telling myself to enjoy it, because the day will come where she won't ever want to be held or cuddled and I will miss it.
  • I'm in the same boat! DD is 13 weeks and loves being held! We are getting better about being put down while I can do something as long as she can see me, but she will only nap if laying on me!

  • My LO won't usually even let me lay her down to nap, she naps in the Ergo or on me.
  • We're in the same boat! The only place she'll sit happily is in her bouncer chair in the bathroom while I shower and get ready. Otherwise, she's pretty much held or in a carrier all day. Part of me loves it, part of me would really like to be able to put her down without pissing her off every once in a while.

  • DS seems clingy to me right now, but he has a cold so I think it's just because he doesn't feel good. He still loves hanging out with his Daddy, but only for about 20 or 30 minutes and then he is done and whimpers for me.

    Henry Cavill...You're welcome!

  • I nearly lost my mind on week eight b/c of this. I was to go back to work the following week and I wasnt able to imagine how I was going to be able to put him down. I was the only person he wanted and he HAD to be held 24/7. It got so much better the following week and a little better each week sense. We are 13 weeks now.
  • Some babies need to be held more than others, DD was like that.  If it hadn't been for the Moby Wrap, our house would have been a trash heap and we would have starved to death.  It gets easier.  DD is 2.5 and the biggest snuggle bug now, which I love, so maybe all that holding paid off :)
  • Same here dd is 10weeks today..ive tried everything she still wants to be held!

  • And this is why my house is a wreck. I only get things done with DH is home to hold her. But I'm of the mindset that if that is what she needs then that's what needs and so we spend all day on the couch snuggling. Some days she will give me a break and go in her swing. I actually bought a 2nd swing for downstairs b/c it's the only thing she'll go in if she's not on me. Unfortunately for me she doesn't like her Boba wrap & I don't feel like strapping her into the Beco, so the house stays a wreck...
