Sewing your own ring sling

I'm thinking about sewing my own ring sling and was wondering if anyone else has done it before.  It seems easy and I love that I get to choose my own fabric.  I'm going to use this:

 Any big tips before I start?

My mom made me two and they are great. She had a little trouble figuring out the shoulder pleats, but eventually got it. I have a silk-like one and a cotton one and they are both great but for my tiny babe, I prefer the cotton fabric right now.

I made my own.  I used a great hemp/satin fabric for durability.  I was able to make 2 for under $30  that are of the same quality of ones I've seen sell for $180.  They are really simple too, so don't be afraid.  Have fun!

I chose a poly/cotton blend that's very sturdy (like a suit jacket).  To make it soft inside, I am lining it with a jersey cotton material.

 These two fabrics are not cheap but I felt like making it right the first time.  Still costed $35 total, and that's for two slings (because the pattern in that website makes two at a time).  So it was $17.50/ea.
