recommend your swing please...

i'm torn about which one to get.  what do you have and do you like it?

Re: recommend your swing please...

  • Since my DD will ONLY sleep in a swing - I have 3.  I have the wooden Eddie Bauer swing - got it off craigslist for $50.  It looks pretty but it occasionally stops working (which if you are my DD is a disaster).  I have also heard that people have had problems with the motor burning up.  I got a swing off freecycle which looks like the older incarnation of the Ocean Wonders swing.  We call it our "ghetto swing"  because it is seriously devoid of any frills and is held together with tape.  She LOVES it because it swings two different ways.  It is actually the one she sleeps in at night.  Grandma recently ordered her the Fisher Price Power Plus swing which we love because it plugs in and that is a beautiful thing (unless you work for Duracell and get free batteries as a perk).  The mobile on that one is pretty usless but she doesn't care b/c her eyes are usually closed!  I did have to buy a head support to go with it but that was $7.99.  HTH!

  • I got this one because it has a plug-in option as well as a battery option.  I don't even want to think what would happen if I didn't have batteries and the swing stopped working.  FWIW, it's super cute, pretty gender neutral, and DD loves it.  Heck, I even want to climb in there!

  • We have the Fisher Price Aquarium swing and really love it. Aidan STILL naps in it 4-6 times a day. He STTN in his crib, but for naps, it's all about the swing! It's one of the most useful things we registered for. It's great because it swings 2 different ways, plays ocean sounds and music, and has little colorful fish that are like a mobile. It was $119 at BRU.

  • We used the Fisher Price Papasan swing for DS and DD, DS loved it a bit more than DD did.  But it was used enough to burn the motor out. LOL

  • We also have the Fisher Price Papasan Swing and matching bouncer- we love it!!
  • We have the Graco Sweetpeace. It's great, it plugs in so we don't need to use batteries, you can plug in an MP3 player so it can play music you like, and the music and sounds it plays are nice - sweet and not obnoxious. You can turn the seat around in 4 different ways so you get different kinds of motion, and the seat also detaches which has come in handy for me - I bring it upstairs and Abigail sits in it while I shower, it has a vibration feature too and she seems pretty content in it.

hope you find something you like Smile

  • I have the same one as berty. I love that it plugs in and it also swings in 2 different directions which is nice. It's very pretty but it does take up a lot of space. DD only sortof likes it though. Sometimes she's very content in it and will nap in it, other times she just wants out. I wish she LOVE LOVED it like most babies seem to do. I guess every baby is different.
  • We have the Fisher Price Zen swing. I love it! It is definitely my favorite baby item right now. It has a removable seat the Harrison has been sleeping in every night. I have it in my den and it just sort of blends into all the rest of my furniture since it does not look super baby-ish. I also like that you can choose which way baby will swing in it. Front to back or side to side.
