help with honoring relative

we were set on naming baby Layna Natalie, but now DHs aunt, who is also his Godmother  is in the hospital and not doing well. DH wants to use her name somehow as a middle name. Her name is Gail Ann. I thought of using Layna Gabrielle but our cat is Gabby. Any other suggestions?

Choose Gail or Ann.
I think maybe Gail sounds better that Ann with Layna.
I wouldn't think Gabrielle would be much of an homage too different from her name.

What about Lana instead of Layna? That kind of incorporates Ann.

FWIW, I like Layna Gabrielle and I always think naming children comes before pets. The cat won't mind.

that made me smile, but my cat is 7 years old. it might be a little weird although I am still considering it.

Uh, well, Gabrielle is a stretch in my opinion. I really like the name Gail, and think Layna Gail is very pretty! Layna Ann also sounds nice though... you're lucky that you have two great options! I'm always a fan of using a name that's significant within your family

My friend used Abigail to recognize her mom, Gail. She felt Gail was a little too old fashioned for her taste, so she use a name that had "Gail" in it to still honor her mom.
