Holy Separation Anxiety!!!

Any tips would be graetly appreciated as I'm not sure what to do. A few weeks ago my daughter had a terrible cold she was choking on the amount of mucus that was in her nose. So we had to sleep on the couch with her sitting up. Now she doesn't want to sleep in her crib. She wakes up after about an hr and has to be rocked back to sleep. but as soon as you put her down, the crying starts. She will scream for 10 min or better then usually falls alseep. but will awaken a few hrs later to do it again unless we put her in bed with us. Not wanting to create the co sleeping problem should i continue to stand my ground by rocking putting down and letting her cry it out? and will she get comfortable with sleeping there eventually? Help!

  • DS1 went through a phase where he did not want to sleep and did very similar things as your LO.  We pretty much just had to let him cry it out.  When he would wake up, we would rock him for a bit until he was all but asleep, put him in the crib where he would wake up and cry, and then let him cry until he fell back asleep.  It took about a week of this before DS1 was back to his old sleep pattern.

  • When looking to get your LO to go back to sleep on their own, it is recommended to comfort without picking them up, such as rubbing their back while they lay in the crib. If you need to pick them up, keep interaction to a minimum, and keep it short. More often than not, the sleep disruptions are a habbit that you need to break. Yes, you need to stand your ground. GL.
