Had our anatomy scan today. I have been waiting for this for what feels like forever!! I'm happy to report that baby is measuring right on track and all organs/bloodflow/etc...look good. We got a few cute face pictures and found out we're team......
BLUE!
We had several great girl names picked out that we could agree on, but have nothing in the boy dept.....so I guess it's time to bust out the name books again.
There was one oddity that will have me back in for ultrasounds at 26, 32 and 36 weeks though, and I'm wondering if anyone else has had this? The ay the doctor described it was that the umbilical cord is attached right at the very edge of the placenta. He said it's usually not a big deal, but can result in the baby not getting as much nutrition, and being a bit smaller at birth, so they just want to watch it. Anybody else?
Re: A/S today
Congrats on a healthy baby and finding out the sex!
We just found out we're having a girl last Monday. As far as names go, I think since you know it's a boy now you'll be able to connect some good names with him hopefully...it's just fun to be able to imagine your baby on that level finally, and call it its name. This is what we are doing at least, not saying it's for everyone.
As far as the cord position, I have heard about this from a few forums I've read, and that it is kind of normal I think, but I don't know much about it...anyone?
The oddity we came across, which apparently is VERY normal, from our 18-week ultrasound was that the baby has cysts in her brain, as it is still forming and apparently they are common in like 1/3 of babies in the womb at this stage, and usually disappear by a few months later. It's just scary sorta as they can be a sign of a Trisomy chromosomal disorder, but she waved at us with her hand fully open and that's a good sign. However, we also have to return in two months to get another ultrasound to verify their disappearance.
