I had my saline sono today.  It got dangerously close to being as bad as the hsg, but survivable.  Unfortunately, my RE found a polyp and says we should take care of it before progressing.  We meet with him weds to talk about options.  I'm assuming that's either a Lap or hysteroscopy, correct?  I'd like to hear your words of wisdom/experiences.  What should I expect?

I had mine removed via hysteroscopy... Not too bad at all and I was awake... Abou. The same or slightly easier than my HSG

How soon after the removal were you able to cycle?

I had one, although unlike PP, I did general anesthesia.  Easy peasy, in my opinion, and not painful.  I had to wait one additional cycle so my lining could rebuild itself, and then went on to have a successful IVF.  

My RE highly recommended having the D&C/hysteroscopy to clean everything out (there was some other assorted stuff along with the polyp) to give the embryos the best chance of having someplace to "stick" on my uterus.  I'm not sure if it helped, but it certainly didn't hurt!

I started as soon as I got my next period... my RE said it was cutting it kind of close, but was okay with it.  That cycle was a BFN, but the embies weren't as good as the one that stuck, so I don't think the early cycling was related.  I had a fantastic lining for my FET

Last year my saline sono showed a polyp and my RE recommended a hysteroscopy -- she said the research was ambiguous about whether a polyp would actually hamper implantation, but better safe than sorry.  

My hysteroscopy was going to be under sedation at the hospital, so since I had never had a lap and at that time my infertility was still unexplained, I asked if we could do a combo procedure.  My RE agreed and I did the lap and the hysteroscopy at the same time.  A lap obviously entails some recovery time but the hysteroscopy part was not bad at all -- she removed the polyp and did some scraping as well. I barely even bled afterwards.  She let me TTC again the next cycle.

Yikes. Sorry the saline sono was so cruddy. That HSG for me was almost unbearable so even approaching that would make me nervous. 

Can't give you much info about polyp removal, unfortunately, but I hope it's all cleared up soon.

Yikes. Sorry the saline sono was so cruddy. That HSG for me was almost unbearable so even approaching that would make me nervous.

it was rough, but i didnt cry. I sobbed w the hsg. Hooray for holding onto some lil shred of dignity!

i kinda like the idea of being able to.check everything out. Ill have to keep this in mind when i go in on weds.Thanks!

Thanks for everyone's input. Obviously I didnt want anything to be wrong but im glad there might be a reason for our failure. Everyone's stories are so helpful!!

Polyps are a pretty common occurrence.The hysteroscopy to remove mine was a breeze and I was back to normal the next day. I had a second saline sonogram about 8 months later and it was still gone so it seems to have worked. Good luck!
