I am currently CDing my second child. My daughter is 2 months and in the last week she has had 4 massive bm's that require a complete change of clothing (and of course every time this has happened it has happened when we are not at home). I never had this problem with my son.
I use a variety of diapers. She has had blow outs in snappied prefolds with a flip cover, and prefolds with a wee ones cover. I then tried my pockets and she blew out of a FB and a happy heiny. I also have mother-ease fitteds and covers, (but she hasn't had a bm in these). I am pretty sure I have the diapers tight enough. Any suggestions for specific folds for prefolds to contain ebf poop better? Or any other tips for those who have had this problem. Thanks so much.
Re: Blow out help
Are they the same diapers your two year old used -- Does the elastic need replacing?
Also I've heard the jelly roll fold is one of the best at containing runny newborn poop.
Suddenly my life doesn't seem such a waste,
It all revolves around you.
I second the jellyroll fold. We used that with DS for the first month or so, and it was all that contained the poo.
As for your pockets, I find that double checking the leg holes and waist band to make sure I don't see any fleece (or microsuede) has helped a ton with blow outs. Definitely also make sure your elastic doesn't need to be replaced.
Good Luck!
