Conflict of interest?

I am a contract employee. I work for a IT consulting firm and get contract jobs at different companies.

Well, the current contract that I am on is set to expire at the end of December. I doubt they will extend b/c of the current economy and even if they do decide to extend I dont want to be here anymore.

The conflict is that my HR lady is my boss' girlfriend and my Recruiter and the HR lady are BFFs!

My issue with this is that I need to start looking for another job from now in case they do not extend my contract. So, I was putting off calling my recruiter since I KNOW even if she's not supposed to that she will comment with HR lady and HR lady may tell my boss that I am looking.

I just told myself "screw it I have to look out for me and my fam" so I just called her to start the process. She was nice ofcourse but I am sure that they are discussing me right now.

This is a stupid situation but still makes me feel strange.

Since the contract is expiring at the end of December, shouldn't they expect you to look for a new job?
