I give my daughter rice cereal in the morning, before I give her a bottle and then whatever she doesn't eat off the spoon, I put it in her bottle and she finishes it that way. I have been giving my daughter rice cereal since she was just 3 months.

My pediatrician said to give it anytime between meals so they aren't starving but they aren't too full. I feed my 4 month old cereal between her 4:00 and 7:30 feedings in the evening. That way her daddy can be a part of her feedings because she is otherwise breastfed.
Haven't started DS2 yet but with DS1 I introduced new food on Saturday afternoon so I could monitor him throughout the day. Then feed him in the evenings the rest of the week because we both work.
We started because I'm on vacation this week after DS's dr. Appt. We have a bottle first and then feed him about an hour later from the spoon. I would prefer to feed him earlier to monitor but daddy wants to do it too. We feed cereal about 5. We are feeding him oatmeal. Since I go back to work next week he will probably be getting his solids around five anyway.
We just started last night at our dinnertime at about 6:30. I know it's not supposed to really make them sleep better, but it is the first time he has slept 3 hours in a row for 2 months. He just seemed really hungry. That is also in between his usual nursing times.
Because my daughter had spit up issues and some GERD, we have added some rice cereal to her bottles at around 8 weeks, but we would add like a teaspoon. After a couple of weeks, we bumped it up to 2 teaspoons per nighttime bottle, then a tablespoon in her nighttime bottle. Now, with all the milk allergies that my daughter has, the pediatrician told us to add 1 tablespoon per 2 oz of formula for each bottle. We are trying to teach her how to eat with a spoon now, so we mix up a fourth of a cup of the dry cereal with 3 ozs of fomula. What she doesn't eat, we put in her night time bottle. She now sttn 7 hours and wakes up pretty happy.
