Intro and question about CM

I wanted to introduce myself. I've been lurking for awhile and have learned so much here. It's a little embarrassing how little I knew before!  I have a 3.5 year old and 1year old, and we are trying for #3.   

 I am not currently temping. We've been trying for a few months, but I'm ready to get more scientific about it now, so I'll start temping next month. This month, I've been trying to pay attention to my CM. 

 For those who temp and chart CM, how long after ovulation does your CM dry up? I'm asking because we had bad timing this month based on my CM.  I had 4 days of EWCM from the 12th to the 16th, then it immediately changed on the 17th.  Does this mean that I probably ovulated on the 16th, or is the is the timing more variable than that? I looked on FF but it didn't say specifically.

Some people have CM through the whole cycle. For me, it goes away after O. That's why temping is so helpful. If you had temps you wouldn't have to rely on the CM. OPKs help too.

I don't have much advice, I just wanted to say I feel the same way about being embarrassed of my lack of knowledge before these ladies pointed me toward fertility friend (I have one, 14 mo old, just started ttc #2). This is my first cycle charting and my temperature has been much more helpful than CM, but I'm still bf'ing which affects CM....

Mine usually goes from EW back to watery/creamy the day after O.  Everyone is different, though.  I've also had cycles where I never dried out, just stayed watery through my whole LP.

Welcome to the board.  CM has not been a great indicator for me either, as I rarely get noticeable EWCM, and it appears watery at various times throughout my cycle.  Good luck to you!
