Success after IF

Update to previous post

Well I have good news, but I first want to start off saying a huge THANK YOU to everybody who responded. You all truly encouraged me and that was a massive help. Yesterday morning was really rough but the rest of my day did get better.

Okay update, well she was up 3oz this morning! Whoo hoo!! They don't do weighted feeds at this place b/c their scale is not calibrated enough. But I was so pleased with her weight gain. Also, I did some research on nipple shields (thank you ladies for your advice and information) and I managed to latch her on both sides without it last night, AND every time since then. I noticed a difference in her eating after removing the shield.

So the new plan is to now supplement 1/2 an ounce 6 times per day, continue to pump after every feed. Well I can managed to pump at least 3 ounces per day! So I'm feeling really positive and optimistic

And lastly, I really appreciate the fact that you all understand how hard it is with a newborn and how emotional everything makes you feel. It makes me feel less crazy!!.

  • I just want to say YAY for you! I tried to respond to the last post, but kept getting interrupted =). Anyway, I have a MISERABLE supply and continue to struggle with latches and pumping (DS1 is still on the shield and DS2 only broke it two weeks ago!), so I know how heartbreaking it really is. You are such a strong mom to keep going. Great job!!

  • Yay! I remember going through that just a few weeks ago, even though it seems like a lifetime. The more milk special blend and near constant feedings helped a ton. There is a light at the end of the tunnel... my LO gained 17 oz in the last two weeks.
