Amniotic Fluid or Urine Leaking?

Hi ladies, since last night I have been noticing my panties being wet randomly, about the size of a coin dollar.  I don't feel it coming out or anything but it is enough to soak through my panties and cloth shorts.  Embarrassing enough I didn't even notice it, I was sitting on the couch and my husband said "You shorts are wet". It is clear and I can't notice any odor, as I have smelled my panties (TMI, sorry). It has happened a few times last night and so far today.  Does this sounds like possible amniotic fluid or urine?  I am going to take a trip to L&D in a bit just to be safe, but would still like some past experiences or advice from you ladies.

I've always been told that if you are trying to figure out if it's fluid or urine to put on a clean pair of underpants, lie down on your left side for 15 or minutes and stand up. If you have leaking when you stand up, it's a good bet that it's fluid not urine.

I'm a few days ahead of you and I find that underpants are almost always at least a little damp. I don't feel anything either. All of my NSTs and fluid checks have been normal so I try not to think about it too much.

If it's urine, I think it would have an odor to it. Maybe there wasn't any since you caught it quick? I think L&D is wise. Good luck!

I thought the same thing...I would never hope I was peeing myself until now! Haha anyways I went to L&D and all three tests came back negative, so I am just peeing myself after all! That I can handle, these babies need to stay in a few more weeks!

My first amniotic swab came back negative, but jy second one came back positive 2 days later. Same symptoms! I'm 99% sure I was leaking the first time also. Make sure you go again if you continue to have the same feeling. They had to do an emergency induction for me because I had leakage complaints for 2 days and they didn't want to risk infection. I was contracting on my own, but not strong enough for them to let me progress by myself. Pitocin sucks!

Thank you for the info! I will def. keep an eye on it, as they told me to come back if it continues or gets heavier.

Better safe than sorry - glad you are going in.  My friend's water broke very early, and in retrospect she had probably been leaking fluid for days and just assumed it was urine.

I dont want to make you nervous but the same thing happened to me except I leaked a pretty good amount the first time (at 33 weeks also). They took a test and sent me home because it was negative and told me I was peeing (I knew I wasnt). I continued to leak throughout the entire night, went to the OB office the next morning. Long story short, they tested me 4 times, all coming back negative for amniotic fluid. I persisted to tell them I was POSITIVE I wasnt peeing, and on the 5th test it came back positive. Those tests are not fail proof, all the nurses seemed so shocked but I had been telling them all along I knew it was fluid. I delivered my boys 3 days later. If you continue to leak, do not hesitate to go back and insist on retesting. Good luck!!
