Hello
I hope I am posting this into right section (super sorry if I posted in the wrong one). I am far from having the chickenpox situation so this is more of an informational query.
You see, when I was little I didn't have chickenpox. It is my understanding that this disease is not as mild if you get it as an adult.
So I wonder if there is something I should do when my kids (in the future) get chickenpox. Staying away hardly seems as a good option.
Has anyone had chickenpox as adults?
Re: Chickenpox in adults
OMG . And just when you start to think you live in a health aware country... I had no idea there was a vaccine since everybody around me had them and their kids had them and I was always the strange one concerning this and my doctor never mentioned it to me.
Will look into it more. Thank you a million times.
Where do you live that you didn't know there was a chicken pox vaccine and your doc didn't mention it?
ETA: sorry, didn't realize you didn't yet have kids. I thought you had kids and that's why I was so surprised.

I didn't have chicken pox either when growing up. Just after Dh and I got custody of our niece she got the pox. I was pregnant at the time with penny so I was sent away (DH's mom works for Disney and got me a stay at one of the resort's...it was not a hard ship lol) After penny was born I got the vax.
Before kiddos I didn't even honestly realize they had one for chicken pox. Definantly look into gettiing it
I'm from Slovenia and although I do interact with mums and kids quite often no one ever mentioned a vaccine. Whenever I mention chickenpox and not having them people are surprised and say that I probably have a natural immunity (which I always doubted)
And as me and my partner want a baby in the near future, this was one of the things that I thought about.
I did some research (and the information in my language was rather hard to find) and found out you can have chickenpox without any symptoms so there's a chance I had them without anyone knowing haha and that tests can be done to see if you have antibodies.
So this is on the agenda now, do a test and get a vaccine if necessary
