Bed sharing

We weren't originally planning on bed sharing however it seems to be the only way she will sleep at night so in Oder for us to get sleep we went for it. However she has to sleep directly on me and its only at night that this is an issue as during the day she will nap in her swing or bassinet even. I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how to get her to sleep in those places overnight. Don't get me wrong I love sleeping with her but I'm so nervous to move and I'm not a back sleeper so I'm really not getting any sleep. TIA

Re: Bed sharing

  • Are you breastfeeding? I always found side lying to be more conducive to co-sleeping and breastfeeding. It was a very easy transition for me from being pregnant... I basically viewed DS as an extension of my body, I just had to be careful to keep blankets from getting over his head. After the first sex weeks though, he got to the point he would bat down the covers and make sure they were under his arm.

  • We have had the same issue. I'm not a back sleeper and I was so nervous to move with her on me. Side lying is sod thing I'm still getting used to as it still makes me nervous to sleep beside her. I'll tell you what has been working for us...

I sleep with a pillow going longways with my body under my shoulder, elbow, and hand. It's right up under my back just a little. I lay DD longways rather than across my body but I lay her so that her head is in my elbow crease and butt in my hand. She usually ends up being on her side facing me so that she can nurse when she wants. I face my head to the opposite side because the pillow props me up just enough to where it feels like I'm not totally flat on my back. I use covers up to my waist.

I sleep like this every night. Hope it's easy to visualize!! Keep trying different things and you will find what works for you!!
