DS1 has a moderate expressive speech delay. We've also been seeing a behavioural specialist because of the tantrums and behavioural issues stemming from his frustrations of not being able to communicate his feelings.

In the summer he began hitting himself when he got frustrated. We worked with him and he learned how to ask for help. The hitting himself stopped. And I hadn't seen that behaviour since late fall.

Then last week he's starting to hit himself when he doesn't get his way! We don't see the behavioural specialist for a couple weeks. Any tips? I'm trying to ignore that behaviour and trying to deal with why he was told no. But I don't know how to break the hitting during a tantrum!

Argh! I really thought we had seen the last of it...
