The investigator closed the case with the understanding that XH keep his guns in a locked gun safe at all times when the kids are present. I think this has scared him enough so that he will follow the safety precautions, which is what I wanted to begin with. I'm glad he now knows I won't sit back and allow him to put them in danger I think it will keep him a more diligent. We are getting along fine now, and I think he understands he was in the wrong.
In the letter the worker sent me, she said that XH had brought up that there may be a domestic violence issue in my home between J and I, but that in talking with DS and his school, my family, and my doctor she determined there to be no violence or concerns needing further attention.
I know XH only made up the domestic violence issue as a rebuttal to my claims against him. I wanted to bring it up to him, but its not worth the drama. It was already proven false anyway. It just bothers me that he would be so immature as to make something up to CPS just to get back at me for reporting something legit

What adult would fabricate things to a social services professional? Just ignorant
Your XH is lucky the worker didn't decide to put the kids in fostercare until she did a thorough investigation proving both households were safe. You just don't make stuff up when it comes to child welfare. Terrible.
