Toddlers: 24 Months+

Need Sleep Help! :)

We just transitioned my DS (he will be 2 in March) to a 'big boy bed (converted his crib) since he was jumping out and also his little brother will be here in June and we would like to use his set for him.

First few nights were rough with him running after me (we put a gate up in his room) and screaming.  He eventually went into the bed and fell asleep after 30 minutes.  Last night was a little better with him only crying/screaming for 10 minutes. He sleeps great through the night but then at 520 he thinks it is wake up time! This child was sleeping in the crib until at least 645 7am (wakeup time for school) so I am not sure what to do.

my husband or I have gone to his room and tried to sleep on the floor until wakeup time but usually after 30 minutes or so he is screaming again to go downstairs.

Ideas? Suggestions? I really dont want this to become his new wakeup time habit!!!

We did a toddler clock too, this one. It took two mornings of sitting with her until the bunny woke up, but now she just needs a reminder call to check her bunny if she wakes up early.

  • I wouldn't go get him till it's wake up time. Make sure he doesn't even see you till it's wake up time. We turned the door knob around so we could control the lock from the outside. This way he couldn't even look out of his room.
  • My son did this for awhile. I didn't get him a clock BC he wasn't 2 yet and I didn't think he would get it.
He has been in his toddler bed now for 3 months and he's back to sleeping in. I just put a night light in his room. Now if he wakes up he usually just plays or knocks at his door.
