Hi there, my LO is 6 months and is outgrowing everything. Any reccomendations on convertible carseats? And in regards to the max height and weight, where is your child at? I gotta big boy on my hands, an affordable and durable seat is a must! Thanks!!!
Re: Question about carseats
We also had the Britax Marathon but we absolutely hated it. My son is also off the charts on height and in the 80th percentile for weight and the Britax was just a very poor fit for him. I also had some issues with the straps not getting tight enough that were never properly resolved despite multiple calls to Britax and a couple of trips to have techs check everything out. I registered for our Britax but didn't learn until later on that Britax was not generally recommended for taller children since the shells are shorter. (I guess I also didn't expect such a tall child either!) We used it for about a month and half from about 6-7.5 months before I decided to get something new. It just didn't work well for my son.
We have the Clek Foonf now and love it but I would not recommend it for a smaller car because, rear facing, it's gigantic, taking up a lot of forward space as well as height. It is also really not the definition of affordable, either but I liked that I could keep him rear facing longer and, hopefully, I'll get a little more time out of this seat since it does have high height and weight limits.
DItto. DS is the 90th percentile for height and I love this carseat!
THIS! Love this carseat. DS is 33 inches and 30 lbs at 1 year he fits comfortably in it!
Its not recommended for taller babies, because of the rear-facing til 2 (or longer recommendation). If you have a taller baby, then its not going to last you that long. However, you could have a tall baby with a short torso, and the torso length is a huge factor. My son is 2.5 and fits in his BLVD 70 fine. He is 36" or so, and it will last him rear-facing likely til 3. He doesn't have a super long torso though.
There are longer lasting seats for the money. Including the MySize70/Size 4 Me 70/Headwise 70, Diono Radians and the First Years True Fit.
