Hylands Teething Tablets work good for immediate relief but they don't work for long. Baby tylenol is really what works best for us if he is really fussy and seems to be in pain. Otherwise for just general teething, he loves to chew on Sophie the Giraffe and even just a burp cloth or my sweater. Someone recommended getting a rag wet and freezing it and then letting him chew on that, but I haven't tried that yet.
DD is not teething yet (at 8 months!) but I looked up the most popular teething options for a friend who's baby refused all chew toys. The recommendations included certain types of wood (?!), rags and some of the standard squishy toys that you can put in the fridge so that they are nice and cool. Sophie the giraffe is also fairly universally popular. Good luck!
