I have a couple of staples and was wondering if the dr usually gives you something before they take them out? My mom said they just pulled them out and don't give you anything, but then again that was a long time ago.
I was scared to death that having the staples removed would hurt terribly. But, like pp said they have a tool that pinches the staples together in the middle. I never felt any of them coming out. I was so thankful it was painless!!
I was so freaked out, but it didn't hurt at all! That being said, I had mine out 4 days PP and I was still on pain meds so I popped one before going to the doctor's office just to be safe!
I am a huge wimp and was more afraid to have my staples out than any other part of my hospital visit... And it didn't hurt at all... And believe me, I let the hospital staff know when things hurt... Lol ..... I'm not a good patient, but I sat quietly and calmly without an ounce of pain during the staple removal
The removal wasn't painful at all! If anything it was just slightly uncomfortable. I had staples put in hours after my c/s without additional drugs and that got a little painful. Removal was easy :
I was petrified to get them removed! I made DH come with me and had him stand by the exam table ready to squeeze the living daylights out of his hand.
It felt like small, teeny, tiny pinches, if anything. The area was still pretty numb (almost 2wks pp) and my Doctor said it could be numb up to a year after.

Re: Staples question
There's a bit of a tugging sensation, but there shouldn't be pain. The THOUGHT of getting them removed was much worse than the actual procedure.
This. The nurse removed them before I was discharged. I wasn't given anything before the removal, and I didn't feel anything.
