Fyi on mixing formula with tap water!

Just read this.  The full article is a very informative read, link below.

A Special Note About Using Tap Water When Making Infant Formula

Most of the people who are educated about fluoride will avoid drinking municipal tap water that is fluoridated, and will use a reverse osmosis system in your home to rid your water of fluoride. However, there are many who simply don't have the resources or the know-how to protect themselves and their young children.

In November 2006, the American Dental Association (ADA) sent out an email to alert its members of their recommendation to parents to not use fluoridated tap water to make infant formula. A few days later, the CDC followed suit. But neither of them openly informed the public! So there are millions of parents out there using tap water to make up formula, oblivious of the fact that the agencies that promote fluoridation in this country have issued a specific warning against using fluoridated water for this purpose.

Not only that, but by fluoridating the municipal water supply, you doom many low-income families to fail to protect their young children from this dangerous drug, even if they have this information.

Re: Fyi on mixing formula with tap water!

  • Here's what the CDC actually says about using fluoridated tap water for mixing formula:

    https://www.cdc.gov/fluoridation/safety/infant_formula.htm

Recent evidence suggests that mixing powdered or liquid infant formula concentrate with fluoridated water on a regular basis may increase the chance of a child developing the faint, white markings of very mild or mild enamel fluorosis.

You can use fluoridated water for preparing infant formula. However, if your child is exclusively consuming infant formula reconstituted with fluoridated water, there may be an increased chance for mild dental fluorosis. To lessen this chance, parents can use low-fluoride bottled water some of the time to mix infant formula; these bottled waters are labeled as de-ionized, purified, demineralized, or distilled.

    (emphasis added).

And here's what the ADA says:

    https://www.ada.org/4052.aspx

If fluorosis occurs when teeth are developing, is it okay to use fluoridated water to reconstitute infant formula?

Yes, it is safe to use fluoridated water to mix infant formula. If your baby is primarily fed infant formula, using fluoridated water might increase the chance for mild enamel fluorosis, but enamel fluorosis does not affect the health of your child or the health of your child?s teeth. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to talk to their dentists about what?s best for their child.

  • Take the time to read your voters pamphlet and educate yourself on measure 26-151. You will find that voting yes to fluoride is not a good choice and it's unreasonable to add chemicals to our water supply when so many people are opposed to it, and for a good reason.

    Please go to:

    or

and read the testimonies against the fluoridation of water.

There is a reason we don't fluoridate our water, It is dangerous to us and our little ones health!

Solution: use good dental hygiene; brush often and pass on good dental hygiene practices to your children. It can cost you only $4, go to the Dollars Store to get a toothbrush, toothpaste, floss and mouthwash,  and keep your teeth healthy.

Don't make the wrong choice, VOTE NO ON 26-151, PLEASE!!!

You do realize that Portland is the only major city in the US to NOT add fluoride to their water and there are probably a couple babies and pregnant women in all those other cities.... Right?
