I'm in my 3rd week back at work. I am still trying to juggle my morning routine to make it work best for us. I was just curious what others morning routines are like. I am the one who gets my DD ready for the babysitter and the one who takes her every morning.
Re: What is your morning routine?
-Prepare lunch for my son and pack his bag the night before
-Get up at 6 (or 6:30 if I snooze) and get myself ready before my son wakes up.
-Wake my son by 7:30 if he's not already awake.
-Give him a cereal bar and milk and if we're running late let him eat it in the car, otherwise let him play a little. If he gets up early (which isn't often let him eat a yogurt or something else if he wants).
-Get my son dressed and get in the car hopefully by 7:45 but normally closer to 8.
-Daycare and my work are only 5 miles from home so drop my son off and then head to work. My son is allowed to eat more at daycare so I usually let him finish his milk and give him some fruit or a cheese stick to eat when he gets to school.
6:40 wake LO up, get him dressed, give him breakfast and pack his bag for daycare while he eats. DH feeds and medicates the dogs. Brush LOs teeth, put jacket an shoes on?
Out the door by 7:15, DH takes him to DC.
5:20 - get up, shower, dress, makeup, dh takes dog out, feeds her, makes coffee, and puts dishes away
5:45 - dh dresses, I change DD and do my hair while she sits on her potty
6 - give DD milk and eggs (cooked the night before), eat my breakfast, put lunches in bags, take bags to car, let dog out one more time
6:15 - leave with DH and DD
6:30 - drop DD at daycare and DH at bus stop
7 - arrive at work, drink my coffee - see how long it takes for me to get my coffee in my system?? I would do much better to drink it first!
My alarm goes off at 6:15. If my LO is still sleeping, I go ahead and get up and get ready for work. I shower at night so in the mornings, I just do my hair and make-up and get dressed. I don't have to pack anything for daycare for him except a little thing of baby food for his food, so I just put that together and get his car seat and jacket all ready to go. I get him up by 6:45 if he's still asleep. I get him changed and dressed and into the car seat and out the door we go. If he wakes up before my alarm or while I'm getting ready, I get him up and dressed and then I put him in the car seat carrier and bring him into the bathroom with me while I get ready. I just talk to him or sing him songs and usually give him a toy to play with.
I'm pretty quick in the mornings. I don't have breakfast or coffee until I get to work and like I said, I shower at night. It's just easier to have quick mornings and get out the door. My LO has his first bottle of the day at daycare unless he sleeps through the night and needs one when we wakes up, then I'll give him one myself.
When he was a baby I got up a little earlier and did a little less hair and makeup because he couldn't really play on his own. But his jumper usually kept him happy long enough for me to load the car and make breakfast and lunch. If not I put him in his swing to get a few minutes or just plopped him on his activity mat and ran around like a nut!
It gets much much easier as they get a little older. Even when they can eat a few Cheerios while you put on some makeup! I am nervous about getting a baby and toddler out the door alone when the new LO arrives though!
When DD#2 was 3 months old:
7:00 am wake up and nurse her
7:15 p.m- pump
7:30 shower and get both girls ready
8:00 start breakfast
8:15 leave for work
Now that DD#2 is a year old and DD#1 is 2 1/2:
5/6 a.m.: wake up and nurse baby then go back to sleep
7:15 a.m. wake up and nurse baby
7:30 a.m. shower and get girls ready
8:00 am start breakfast
8:15 leave for work
Not much has changed except I don't pump in the mornings anymore
I pick out all the clothes the night before and we have a nanny come to our house so if the girls haven't eaten anything it's no big deal which helps a lot.

I'm impressed that so many of you are able to get up at 6:00 and are out the door by 7:00 or even earlier. I pack what the kids need the night before and put their stuff in the car.
5:00 - Get up, feed the dog, work out
5:45 - Shower, make-up, hair
6:15 - Kids wake up (I don't wake them, they are always up between 5:45 & 6:15), make breakfast, eat, and pack my lunch.
6:45 - Dress girls and myself, fix the girls' hair
7:15 - Out the door
Note - we are almost never out the door by 7:15, but that is my goal. My 3 year old can take an amazingly long time to put on her shoes and jacket.
6:00 - DH gets ready
6:20- I get up and get ready (Every other morning, I get up at 5am to run)
LO wakes between 6:30-7am. If I am not ready yet, he goes downstairs with DH.
6:45- Nurse LO, DH finishes milk cups and gathers lunch items for me & him (Lo's lunch is packed the night before most of the time)
7am - DH loads me car with all the bags and he leaves
7:15 - Breakfast
8:00 - Get LO ready for daycare
8:10- Out the door
8:20- Daycare drop off
8:30 - To work
Well, in a perfect world DH and I would prepare things the night before to make morning less hectic. However, in our real world this is how our morning goes.
4am- gym
5:10 am shower/get ready
5:45 wake up DH
6am wake up LO and get him ready while DH packs lunches
6:20ish out the door. (Note, I should actually be leaving 5-10 minutes earlier)
Get everything together for DC the night before, make bottles, take showers.
7:00 - all 3 of us get up, I change her and get her dressed. I let out the dog and feed the dog right after I get L dressed.
While I get ready for work DH feeds Lillian. When I am done I go and play with her until we are ready to leave. It only takes me about 15 min to get ready.
7:40 - leave for DC
(when I was working)
I shower, blow dry and choose my clothes at night. I also get his wetbag and clean diapers set out the night before. Lunch is provided by his center.
Up, get ready.
Get DS up and dressed.
He eats breakfast while I make coffee and let the dog out, feed her, and get my lunch together.
Brush his teeth, wash his face, get shoes on and load up the car.
Off to school.
On most mornings all I have to do is sneak out of bed (we cosleep and DH and My LO are in bed when I leave), shower and dress and then assemble the lunch (put in containers the night before, but it needs to be popped in a lunch bag with ice packs), throw that in a daycare bag with empty bottles (also put in the night before) and then layout her clothes and the first diaper change supplies. DH does the rest when he wakes up.
On my mornings, if he's gone early, I set her up with breakfast in her highchair in the bathroom while I shower and dress. She plays on the floor near me while I get ready and then I do the stuff above.
