For those of you who have it or have with previous babies, how did you realize you had PPD? Was it obvious? How did you decide what type of help, if any, you needed? And finally who did you go to for diagnosis or help? OB? Family dr?
It wasn't obvious to me, but it was obvious to FI. I fought him on going to the doctor for about 6 weeks, and only agreed after I had a panic attack in a public place and had to face that it wasn't normal. Looking back, all of the signs of major anxiety were there. My PPA manifested almost like an obsessive compulsive disorder of sorts. I had a meltdown, a MAJOR meltdown, because my mom folded the onesies wrong in the drawer. I tore everything out of the dresser, and had to refold it. Also, if I couldn't do a chore perfectly, I couldn't do it at all. The house was falling apart, and it usually looks like something out of Better Homes and Gardens.
The people who know you best are good indicators, but the only one who can diagnose you is a medical professional that is specifically treating you. I went to my OB who screened me, and then he referred me to a psychiatrist who prescribed Xanax and counseling. If you suspect you might have PPD, call your doctor. They don't flog you for being wrong.

This. It's a lot of "Hi, internet strangers with no medical background! Diagnose me please!"
GL and keep us updated. ::Hugs::
Sorry my PPD board recommendation turned out to be a bust. I hope you get some reassurance from the doc and feel better soon :
