Bad dreams?

Last night about 10pm my daughter woke up crying so hard.  It was a cry that I've never heard come out of her before and really scared me.  It took awhile for me to calm her down but she did eventually go back to sleep and slept all night. 

The only thing I can think of was that she maybe had a bad dream.  Is that possible at this age?  8 months.

Yes. LO can have bad dreams at 8 months old and sooner. My DD is 8 mon and  has had them for a while. We have learned to let her cry for a few minutes if she wakes up at night to see if it is a bad dream. If it is a bad dream sometimes its best to let them be because they are still asleep and when you tough them they could think that you are part of their bad dream. This is what our pediatrician told us at out 6 mon appointment.
