11 week old refusing to nap during day

Anyone else have/had problems getting their 11 week old to nap during the day?  Now that my little one is a bit older and not sleeping pretty much all day, he's refusing to nap during the day.  I'm already swaddling, using a sound machine, and will often attempt to put him down in his swing which he used to love, but nothing seems to do the trick sometimes.  Anyone else experience this & did anything help?

  • Are you putting him down too late? I find that if I wait until my babies are overtired, they will not sleep.

  • I'm going through the same exact thing! My DD will nap for everyone but me and no matter what I try she does not nap! It's so frustrating!

  • when dd has several days of no napping it starts taking a toll on her night time sleep so what i end up doing is letting her nap at least one full sleep cycle on me. (i always gather necessities first-phone, water, laptop, book, snack and remote :-)). it helps her get back into napping.
  • We put hm down for the night around 8/8:30.  Tried putting him down earlier but he didn't seem to like that and fussed all night though he's normally a pretty good sleeper at night.  Wonder if it matters that he naps and sleeps in different rooms?

    I wondered this too...

  • My little one is the worse napper! He's now 19 weeks old and goes down like a charm. The minute I see him rub his eyes, I put him down. He whines for ten seconds and he's gone. I also have a lullaby on in the background to notify him that it's his nap time. I use this youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=2rKYZ_BGxPM

When he was little, he would not sleep during the day. No matter how hard I try. I always end up cradling him in my arms for him to get at least an hour of sleep. When he would sleep alone, he would only get 30 minutes worth of sleep per nap.. At night, we would put him down between 8 and 8:30 and would have three night feedings.

Of course, with age, comes longer sleeping patterns and more predictable patterns.

I also notice that since we taught him how to sleep at night, he goes down easier for nap. I've done the Cry It Out sleep training...it took six days and now he goes to sleep a minute a put him down in his crib.

I also don't nap him in our bedroom (his crib is in our bedroom). We turned our living room into his play/nap area and he sleeps there with all the noise I make in the kitchen and what not. Try switching his nap area.
