I'm looking for a new carrier, I have an ergo that we use daily but I'd like to do more back, hip and forward facing carrying. My son is 4 months, 28 inches 20 lbs. What are your favorites and why?
Thanks! I've been looking at ring slings and think I'd like one and I'll have to do some research on the mei teis! Isn't a Moby better for newborns and smaller babies? My kid is a giant and I feel like he will outgrow a Moby quickly.
Moby is for under 15 lb. I wouldn't bother with a 4 month old; if you like the idea, woven wraps don't have weight limits (or they have really high weight limits, rather - a lot can double as a hammock for an adult).
Where can I get more info on a woven? I don't know anything about them. Are there different brands I can research? Thank you for being so helpful to a clueless newb!
We use the infantio Mei Tai carrier. I love it. I loved the Moby in those first few weeks of DS's life, but then it got to hot for us and DS didn't like to be in it. Since we got the Mei Tai,we're both so much happier. It's easy to put on,comfortable for us both and DH will even use it.
Re: Recommend your carrier
For quick trips and hip carries, a ring sling. Great for an older baby/toddler.
For back carries, a mei tai.
For front-facing carries, nothing. Not comfy. High back carry is more practical and ergonomic, and the mei tai is great for that.

I agree you are not going to want to do forward facing - just not comfy!
