Cloth Diapering

bamboo inserts?

Can I really just use 1 bamboo insert as an insert in a pocket diaper as opposed to microfiber?  I hate hate hate touching microfiber, but the bamboo seems so thin. (I know it's more absorbent, but is it that much more?) Also, how do you wash and dry the bamboo inserts? And can I sell my microfiber ones somewhere?

Re: bamboo inserts?

  • Yep, lots of people do that. Id just make sure you have inserts not doublers. Otherwise you might have leaks. You might need to use two, if they are doublers.

Not sure the best place to sell the microfiber, maybe craigslist.

Some do, and I'm tempted to try, no baby yet. The only downside is that it apparently absorbs slower than microfiber or bamboo so it might not work as well by itself.

I'm hoping to pair cotton with my hemp for better absorption.

  • A lot of people pair a bamboo insert with a hemp.  Hemp is very trim, I don't think I would trust it on it's own.

Maybe try it out with a bamboo double first?

Also you can try selling the MF inserts or selling them free for shipping.

  • We bought alva diapers and their bamboo inserts and only use 1 bamboo insert, no MF and have never had a leak.
