3rd Trimester

is dry mouth a sign?

It's fine as long as I'm awake but the second I fall asleep my mouth becomes extremely dry. So bad that it wakes me up several times a night for a drink of water. I don't feel thirsty, just like I need to wet my mouth. I've read that this could be a sign of GD, does anyone know? I go in for my GTT friday. TIA.

  • Possibly if you are thirsty and drinking a lot of water.

It's also winter and dry depending on where you live. And the extra fluid we are carrying around might mean you are breathing through your mouth at night. Try a humidifier!

  • I second the humidifier, but good luck at your test.

This.  Plus keep some sour candies and water at your nightstand.

  • I think it's a sign that you are pg Smile  My mouth is dry/thirsty off and on all pregnancy.
  • I use a humidifier and it works great!!

  • For me, it's a sign of excessive drooling & mouth breathing.
  • I've kept a glass of water by my bed for months now, because I am constantly waking up with dry mouth/thirsty. I don't have GD and haven't had any signs of labor or anything like that. I also drink a ton of water during the day (even pre-pregnancy) so, yeah, I'm just taking it as a sign of pregnancy and nothing else.

  • LOL I've noticed that in the last few weeks I've started drooling during the night... Ugh to random pregnancy grossness!
  • I think it's the weather. My mouth gets so dry at night that it wakes me up often, but I don't want to drink too much because I know I'll be running to the bathroom half an hour later. Ugh.
