rumparooz aplix

so I found rumparooz aplix on sale and I'm thinking of buying them tomorrow since they are while supplies last, but is there any downside to getting these as opposed to the snaps?  I looked and they both have a one year warranty and would seem easier for middle of the night and for my DH and MIL doing diaper changes since all of her grandkids are in sposies.  they also say they are good if baby is between snaps which I never thought of before.  Should I get a mixture of both or stick with all aplix to save money? or look at other brands?  I'm so confused.  I'm also going to a store nearby tomorrow the check them out along with other brands but any opinions from someone who has used them is greatly appreciated.

Re: rumparooz aplix

  • I have several Rar diapers with aplix, and I like them quite a bit. The aplix seems to be of better quality than other brands I've tried. That being said, aplix diapers in general wear out faster than those with snaps, curious toddlers figure out how to take them off more quickly than they do snap diapers, and the resale value tends to be lower for aplix diapers. For those reasons I have a mix of both types.

As far as buying your stash, I would hesitate to buy a full stash of any one brand of OS diaper before your LO is big enough to fit into them. I think RaR tends to fit babies earlier than some other brands, but it's pretty rare for a newborn to have chunky enough legs to fit into OS diapers without major leaks. Also, RaR diapers have a shorter rise then some, so many babies outgrow them before they are potty trained.

My best advice is to buy a few different brands in both snaps and aplix to see what works best for your LO, since they all fit differently. Then sell off the ones you don't like and add more of the ones that you do.

All of this, especially the part about not investing in only one brand/type of diaper.

When I was first researching cloth diapers I thought we would use all BG4.0s. They are actually one of my least favorite diapers. I am so happy I bought a mix of types because it turns out that prefolds and covers are actually our favorite. I also thought we would like snaps more but it turns out we really like hook and loop more. We decided we would rather have the convenience and adjustability of hook and loop now and later when it starts to wear I will just buy new covers or convert them to snaps myself.

It's better to buy a couple different types and sell off the few you don't like than to buy a whole stash and end up hating them all.

  • Rumparooz usually gets pretty good reviews for their aplix.  (Thirsties and BG usually don't get good aplix reviews).  Other brands I've heard have good aplix are Tots Bots and Blueberry, but they cost a lot more than the current Rumparooz sale.

I have some aplix Rumparooz and so far I like them.  They started fitting my son around 5 weeks old I think.  I got the aplix since I plan to use them as my daycare diaper.  Otherwise, for home use, I usually buy snaps since you don't have to worry about those wearing out.
