whining babies

Lately my baby has been whining like crazy (must get it from me). But its literally ALL the time. Like she does it for fun. She used to coo and talk but now all day its been higher pitched squealing and whining noises. I look at her and she smiles then goes back to the frowning squealing...anyone dealing with this? Will it end?!

It's a new thing she learned to do. It'll be replaced by something else soon.

My 5 1/2 month old does that, too! I think they just like to see the reaction they get from you for each of their noises. My DD does exactly what yours does- totally fine and happy, but then whines until you acknowledge her. Just like the previous poster said, it's something new they have learned to do and it will likely be replaced by something else in the near future.

Yes. My son is 5.5 mos old and just learned to scream. He screams pretty much all day whether he is happy, sad or mad. Pretty annoying but the newness of learning this will wear off soon (I hope!) and he'll move on to something less annoying, hopefully. like "MAMA!!" lol
