washing bottle nipples

So this is late in the game and now I am wondering.... I just washed all of LO's bowls and spoons and I read (after the fact) that they should be on the top rack in the dishwasher.  I should have known that... blame it on baby brain?!  I put all of the spoons in the utensil baskets in the bottom - which is where I always put the bottle nipples and rings.  Now I am thinking ... have I made a terrible mistake? the medela bottles say that they are dishwasher safe but I have always put the nipples in the utensil basket on the bottom... LO is 6 months old and I have done this every time! Do I need to wash his spoons on the top rack? Anyone else done this before?

Re: washing bottle nipples

  • I always put the nipples in the utensil box. Everything else goes in the top. Hopefully I didn't mess them up by doing that. I guess that's why they sell those dishwasher crate things. Oops.

  • I think that's recommended so that they don't get warped from the heat. I do wash spoons in the utensil basket, but bottles and all the bottle parts go in a basket on the top rack.

  • I have a dishwasher basket for nipples, rings, etc. I have always put his spoons in the bottom where the other utensils go.

As long as they still seal properly, I'd say no harm was down. I think they are supposed to go on top because it isn't as hot.

  • Same here on the dishwasher basket. It was pretty cheap and keeps all the baby stuff together on the top rack.
