Eping question

Hello all,

My LO is 4 weeks today and I go back to work in 2 weeks time flies! Anyways, I am currently pumping every 2 hours and get between 2.53.5 oz per breast more if i wait 3hours or so between pumps. If I go down to pumping every 4 hours instead will that effect my supply?

Re: Eping question

  • You should be fine. I EPed with ds and did 6-8 pumps until he was 2 weeks old, dropped to 6 until he was about a month, and then did 5 pumps per day after that until about 5 months when I went to 4 pumps per day (though each lasted longer). I stayed at that until about 9 months when I went to 3 per day. My supply started to run out after I dropped to 2 per day at a yea and at 14 months I stopped pumping.

  • Awesome! Thanks. I just know I will not be able to continue to pump every 2 hours when I return to work. I have a pretty good supply stashed in the freezer for LO once I return to work to use. I just didn't want my supply to go down so much that I would have to start supplementing.
  • I had problems getting my milk supply established. I had to pump every 2-3 hours for a month to get anywhere close to what LO would need for the day.
  • I have been pumping every 23 hours for the last month and seem to make more than enough for LO so that's good news. Just didn't know if that would change if I went to pumping every 4 hours.

I don't wake up every 2 hours at night to pump tho! I just pump when LO wakes up and my SO feeds him.
