Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Sleeping...

My son is 4.5 months old....As of late, the only way that he will sleep at night is if it's with us. He always slept elevated in a car seat because of sleeping issues and now he's too big for the car seat. I tried to get him to sleep in his bassinet to which he is completely uninterested and wakes up in a panic. I tried to make the mattress warm with a heating pad before he gets in it. I tried to put him on his side and he eventually rolls himself to his back and then freaks out. During the day, I put him in his pack and play or crib to nap but that only lasts 45 minutes or so....I am at a loss on how to get this baby to sleep without either my husband or myself holding him. I go back to work in two weeks and this just isn't working...

Re: Sleeping...

  • sounds like he is used to the elevation maybe? is he eleveted at every nap? if so maybe try and get him used to lying flat gradually by putting a towel or something under the mattress in basonette to begin with then decrease it to a pillowslip maybe and when he wakes crying stroke his cheek and comfort him. if u start with daytime naps you will be in the frame of mind for dealing with it and he will get used to it. hope this helps x
