Team Blue...please help

Hi everyone,

We found out yesterday that we are expecting a little BOY in July! We are so thrilled, and ready to start narrowing down some name choices. DH hasn't made many suggestions, and is very very picky. Here are our top choices so far. We're not married to any of the middle names...would love suggestions for middle names or other first names that are along the same style. Also, our last name is Griffith, and I'm not loving that his initials could spell words like BAG RAG BIG etc...not sure if you guys think that's an issue too.

Ethan Alexander - we both love Ethan, but I had no idea how popular it is...we've never met one. It's the only name DH loves.

Blake Alexander - I love Blake, 2nd choice for husband...likes it but doesn't seem to want to commit to it, don't love BAG for initials. Not sure of other middle names yet.

Other names I love but DH only "likes" are Owen, Nolan, Rowan. I'm hitting a wall. He's so picky, hates 90% of the names I come up with, yet refuses to come up with anything else because he's happy with the two choices we have. While I like them, I'm not 100% ready to commit. Don't know what to do, and it's starting to cause fights... ugh

I wouldn't worry too much about initials. If you both love Ethan, I think you should use it! Popularity varies by area, and it's up to you whether it bothers you enough to pass on a name you love.

I love the name Ethan regardless. Have you checked the SSA list for your state and not just nationally? Sometimes it varies.

Yep I just checked this yesterday. Ethan is number 13 in our state in 2011 with 214 births that year. I still love it...just looking for other opinions. Keep them coming, and thanks so far!

I like Ethan and have also never met one IRL. I wouldn't let the popularity stop you if you both love it.

Ethan Alexander! I think it's a great name.

Blake Griffith reminds me of LA Clippers basketball player Blake Griffin. Nothing wrong with that name...just what I think of.

Love Ethan Alexander.  That was high up on our list with DS1, but we named him Parker Alexander.

I also like your other pick - Owen.

I like Ethan AND Blake.  You can't go wrong with either.

Blake and Ethan are both nice names. As far as initials, I would steer clear of FAG, but otherwise really don't think you have anything to worry about.

I've got an Ethan.  I was surprised when I found out it was popular.  DH and I have never know one and there are none in our circle of friends.  There are 3 Evan's at his daycare though.

We were going to pick Ethan for DS1, but decided against it b/c it was the #1 name at the time.  So we went with Carter, which was #80 (but has since moved up.)  If the popularity doesn't bother you, than  go with Ethan.

Some other suggestions: Carter, Reid, Bennett, Lucas, Greyson, Cole.
