As I am going through this loss, I am also starting to think ahead. As I have said in previous posts, emotionally this has been a bit easier on me since the ultrasound only showed an empty sac (versus if there had been an embryo in there). I have grieved the loss of the pregnancy more so than the loss of a baby, if that makes sense... Anyway, I wanted to ask when those of you who have gone through a m/c have started ttc again. For me (and many of us on this board), time is not on my side, and I would like to start again ASAP. I mean, it took 18 months just to get one positive hpt. I will of course talk with my doc about this but wanted to see what others have done. I feel like emotionally we will be ready as soon as we physically can. Did you try natually after miscarrying or go straight back to treatments? We were about to do an IUI when i got pregnant so i feel like we should try naturally again for at least a few more months...Also, have you taken any special vitamins or things like that to help get your system back to normal? I have read about pomegranate juice, for one, that is suposed to help build up the lining of your uterus after a m/c.
Thanks so much ladies, I know there are probably other boards where I could ask these questions but I feel so at home and supported here. ![]()
Re: ?s For those who have had a loss
I think it is fine to ask this here. I had a CP about 10 months ago. I was on clomid and the next month I was going to do my last round of clomid plus trigger and IUI. Well, when we got the BFP we were thrilled, but as you know it wasn't meant to be. Even though my period was only a few days late (I had tested early and so I thought/knew I was PG for 8 days before I began to bleed. We found out on day 6 that my beta didn't double. At that time I was seeing my OB/GYN and she felt we should wait a cycle. Of course, we tried on our own and it didn't work. Then we did go on to do the clomid + IUI and it also didn't work. That is when I moved onto a RE. At that time we had been trying for 6 months. Then this was cycle 14 when we finally got a BFP that the beta almost doubled. All that to say ask your dr and if they say wait a month try on your own.
I wish I had known these vitamins to take sooner bc I would have taken them as they are so cheap. My RE put me on 50 mg of DHEA (till ovulation/ER), 2000 mg of D3, and 200 mg of Co-Q-10. I didn't take these through IVF #1, but after that failed my RE personally called me and told me to start taking this ASAP bc they can help with egg quality and he was throwing everything in the book at me! They are high amounts, but this IVF was much better (I did switch my protocol a good bit too-lupron instead of ganarelix).
Again, I have been there and any type of loss is hard. I hope you get to try again soon.

So sorry to hear about your loss. I think it is hard, no matter how or when it happens and everyone will grieve differently. After TTC #2 for 15 months we got our BFP in Nov of 2010. Like the other poster, I too tested early and was surprised and elated that we finally got our miracle, but labs indicated that my progesterone was dangerously low. They put me in supplements, but a second lab confirmed it was all for not and I started to miscarry naturally a few days later. This all happened while we were seeing our original OB and I seem to remember him saying that we should wait a month or two for my body to recover before trying again. No supplements or anything for me after (this was all before we had my dx of stage 3 endo and we switched to a specialist in May of '11 and just recently to an RE for our IUI treatments)
Once your heart is ready, you will know what is right for you. Best of luck and sending postive thoughts your way!

When I think back to my very first miscarriage, I was so naive in listening to the doctor tell me we should wait 3 cycles. I now know that was totally unnecessary.
I, too, had an anembryonic pregnancy (FET cycle). I know exactly what you mean, it is very disappointing to lose the pregnancy so to speak, but of course there actually is no baby, so somehow it was less emotional in that way. In any event, my betas took a long time to go down, so not sure I could have gotten pg right away, but we definitely didn't TTA.
I think as long as you aren't really anemic or have other major issues going on, you could probably try the old fashioned way, but your doctor may hold off on treatments for a cycle. You might want to ask about doing a monitoring cycle even if you are not officially TTC, just to check on hormone levels etc. and see if you need supplementation.
I agree w/ most of PP re. supplements, though I took DHEA for a bit and I don't think it helped me, maybe even screwed up my FSH.. Otherwise, boatloads of folic acid or L-methylfolate, CoEQ10, fish oil, Vit D, Vit E, regular prenatals. I took melatonin for awhile also...

We've been ttc since December 2010, and have had three losses since then. My OB recommended that we wait 1-2 cycles after each one, but I asked him if we could try immediately because of my age (I was 39 when we started, 41 now). He admitted that the main reason they ask women to wait is that it is easier to date a pregnancy once the woman has had a period. We told him we were going to go ahead and try without waiting a cycle, and he said if we got pregnant, then my body was ready. Despite this, we weren't able to get pregnant right away after any of the MCs.
At that time, we weren't undergoing any fertility treatments, so we were just trying on our own. The only thing I was taking was prenatal vitamins.
I'm glad you are doing better. Going through a MC is really hard when you are so excited to be pregnant. I hope you get a bfp again soon!
