Did your LO ever have a bad dream?

Our LO woke up today and has been scared of a skeleton all day. He watches Scooby Doo and Jake and the Pirates which both show skeletons.

We don't know where this came from but now he's scared to go in his playroom and clings to us and shakes when we take him in there.

Does it sound like a bad dream? Anything we can do? My heart is breaking because he's so terrified.

Thank you.

Re: Did your LO ever have a bad dream?

  • Yes my DD always has bad & vivid dreams> I also have had very vivid dreams since I was a child & had nightmares quite a bit.   She can often tell us what they're about, though usually she is only scared when she wakes up & it does not follow her throughout the day like you're describing w/ your son.

I would just have a conversation with him since he is 3...maybe ask if he knows what a dream is, that it is like  a story we watch when we sleep, nad did he see skeletons in a dream last night, explain that dreams are not real, they only are in our heads when we're asleep but sometimes they're scary and if he has one, to let you know so you can talk about it, etc.  Trying to get him to identify it in the future so you can talk about it right away hopefully will help!

  • Carte does this from time to time. He says there's a ghost or a monster and points to somewhere. He's always very scared. He wakes up every other night in his bedroom scared also. Is it a bad dream or does he really see ghosts?!? No clue but it definitely freaks me out!! He has said he seen ghost on several occasions. He can be dramatic sometimes so just try to ignore and hope he will get over it. If he's very upset though we just show him nothing is there and give him a flashlight! Haha!
