You're only as good as your highest FSH..

So, I got my records today from my current RE.  I listened to all of  your recommendations and decided to get one or two second opinions going forward. I have a phone consult with ccrm on 3/22. I can't believe it takes soooo long to even talk to someone! If I decide to go with them, I wouldn't cycle until June at the earliest.  I don't know that I can wait that long.  Anyway, I see a lot of my records are missing and/or incomplete. I mean, no details at all about ANY of the meds, doesn't indicate what meds, dosages, etc. or anything about the actual ER or ET, I.e. how many retrieved, how many fertilized, how many transferred, etc.. Is this normal to have such limited info on a records release. Thankfully, I can fill in most of the details because I've been pretty vigilant about knowing everything. 

Anyway, I was shocked at my December FSH (before ivf#2). Starting in June, it was 5.4, then through the iuis and the first ivf, it was up to 6.7. But, now it was 9.1!!  Wth? That's very scary to me. Here I was thinking it was still at 6. Wish my RE would have mentioned it.

Oh, and my progesterone 1 week after ivf #1 was 6. Way too low. We had transferred a perfect blast. It looks like it was mistakenly not checked the day of ET like it was supposed to be or else my PIO would have been increased.. I am none too happy about that.

That is weird that your records are so incomplete. When I requested my records it was in log format listing everything from beginning to end. Every day what dose I was on to how many measurable follies I had. Then it included the embryology report that listed the exact details of every single egg they retrieved to which egg fertilized and where they went from there. As far as your levels are concerned, I sympathize with you. The same thing happened to me so I stopped looking and asking. Ignorance about what I couldn't change was bliss. The lack if checking progesterone is unacceptable at best.

Your records are incomplete, when they send records from an RE there are always several sheets with follie counts and medication changes etc. for each cycle. Also that is criminal that they didn't tell you about the FSH and Progesterone as knowing the FSH might have changed some of your decisions and having low progesterone clearly is not adequate to attain pregnancy. I am sorry this fell through the cracks

Really? That's interesting. I am not sure what to do now? Re-request my records? Just fill in the blanks as best as I can? This angers me. Why make this any harder on me and my future possibilities? Why make it harder on the new doc? I am getting more mad as I think about this..

Good luck with your second opinions, from the sounds of it you were right to switch RE's. I'm so sorry that they didn't monitor your progesterone more closely, to go through everything involved with an ivf cycle and have that overlooked is horrible!

When I had my records transferred, I had to request my records plus my embryology report and Ivf flow sheets. This was the info specifically pertaining to my Ivf cycles and embryos.

Ugh! That is soooo frustrating I'm sorry you have to deal with that!!!  Your records should be in much better condition and contain a whole lot more information!!!

As for your FSH, its a good thing you've spotted that because rising FSH could mean you need a different protocol. Mine went from 8 on bcp up to 12 once I stopped taking them....that and your AMH/AFC really go hand in hand. Good thing you're getting other opinions!!!

After hearing this I think you're going to have much better luck with a different RE!!

I would rerequest the records and have them sent to you. I can send you a copy of mine on Tuesday once I scan it to show you exactly the detail I got. Anytime I spoke to anyone, they ordered Meds for me, or a dr saw me, it got listed. I am furious at your old clinic! When I switched clinics my new dr said all he needed was in my charts. It showed him problem times, how I reacted and basically as he put it, it was a great cheat sheet.

Yuck, way too many frustrations!

When I requested my records, I had the same issue -- so much missing info/very limited details about cycles.  Basically, I paid for something that had little to no useful info -- I had more info from the detailed notes I kept each cycle.  I had the records sent to me and checked off that I wanted everything they had.  I was at the same clinic as Citygirl, but wasn't ever told to request anything specific (and I even asked the staff about it) -- just another reason I'm glad to be gone from that clinic.

Grrrr. I hate how these clinics make us jump through so many hoops just to get a hold of our own medical records.

Mine, too, were incomplete and had nothing from embryology. 

I've been struggling, too, with anger about how my past cycles were handled. I'm trying to get to the place where I can say that those old cycles don't matter and that all I can control is what happens going forward. I'm not there yet, mind you, but that's what I'm aiming for.

Sorry about the lame record situation, that sucks. Also sorry about the FSH creeping up - you should have been told. 

I have been told that FSH combined with AMH and AFC really tells the whole story. Don't focus on just 1.

So, I decided to just let it go. I went through the records for hours and wrote in notes on blood work, meds and dosages, and I even found all the pics of the embryos and copied them all and added them to the chart as well. I really think I can answer whatever questions they may have and I don't want the stress of the back and forth with the current clinic...  Thanks all for the help!
