My original protocol was for an HCG trigger but they switched me because I had produced so many follies and the Lupron drastically reduces the risk for OHSS. I personally was thrilled because I think it was easier than a traditional trigger which needs to be mixed. The only downside is it will shut down all of your hormones afterwards so you will need to supplement both progesterone and estrogen with meds.
good luck!!

I used it for both IVFs and never had a hint of OHSS symptoms (beyond via ultrasound). I was ultimately successful with a FET, but the Lupron trigger worked just fine!
I used it successfully. It's also nice because it's sub-q instead of IM. I did 2 doses of it. I can't remember the # of hours before ER I triggered but I think the 2 doses were 12 hours apart. I was "at risk" for OHSS so they planned on me doing a Lupron trigger. I'm pregnant with twins now. I'm on PIO and estrogen though. I will hopefully be weaned off by 12 weeks.
Thank you! I posted about it another board and I had two ladies in the RE field tell me that the pregnancy rates are lower with it. Of course, I'm freaking out now!
Worked for me! I was kind of concerned too bc I posted a question about it on the IF board and no one responded that they had done it. But I just thought-my doctors know what they are doing, and they won't give me something that will hurt my chances. My E2 levels were high and bc of my PCOS they were worried about OHSS. Good luck!

I triggered with Lupron. It's very common for those of us at risk of OHSS. Gl!

I triggered with lupron as well since I was at a high risk of OHSS. We were very fortunate that it worked the 1st time. I too had worried about success rates but my RE has good success with it and it's the same protocol he uses for his egg donors.

if I had to guess I would guess that rates may be lower because its not used nearly as much. Most doctors will always trigger with the HCG.. And many times even if there are a lot of follies they still stick with that... I asked the same question on the IF board when I got switched to it and someone told me they typically only use a Lupron trigger when they are expecting a lot of eggs and good results from the ER, so I hope this is true for you!!! Good luck

Thanks...I have 29 follicles over 10 right now and will probably trigger in a day or two. They definitely are looking out for my best interest to avoid OHSS
