C-sections

1st period?

Just wondering what the average time was for your period to come back? My first c-section it was back by 6 weeks. This time I'm almost at 10 weeks. I have had pms signs (cramps, pimples, moodiness), but no bleeding. We haven't had unprotected sex either so I'm not really worried about being pregnant again, just wondering if this is normal. I FF, and was only able to breastfeed for a few days. This time I did have milk come in, which didn't happen last time. Could that be the reason?

Re: 1st period?

  • I got my period 7 weeks after my csection

  • I am really irregular normally, so it can take me months to get it back, even though I don't breastfeed.  I think it took longer with DD#2, and now that I think about it, my milk came in with her much more pronounced, so maybe that does contribute.

I would probably call if you are about 12 weeks out, just to check in, but I don't think it's unusual.  I have never had it by six or eight-week checkup.

  • I normally have an irregular cycle. My last cycle was on July 2011 yet I didn't conceive until September 2011. My baby was born June 22, 2012 and I just got my cycle on Valentine's Day (2013). I was breastfeeding from day one and started to ween February 2013 because he was getting teeth and biting! Boy was it difficult to get "Aunt Flow" back because I sure wasn't used to "her"!
