Trying to Get Pregnant

TTC after Mirena Removal

Hello to all, im new to this blog and was looking for some help on information about how long it usually takes to get pregnant after Mirena IUD removal, I had my removed on October 26, 2012 and nothing yet! I already have two boys, ages 2 & 11 and me and my hubby would like one more baby. So if anyone could help, it would be so much appreciated! Smile

Re: TTC after Mirena Removal

  • Mirena is a hormonal form of birth control, so it may take awhile for your body to regulate after the removal.

As for me, I had mine removed on February 28th of last year. Got KU during my June cycle, but lost it at 4w3d.

I am currently still TTC, and I'm on cycle/month 12.

  • I am in the same place you are!  I had my Mirena removed in January.  Your post doesn't reference whether or not you have been cycling and ovulating.  I've read a lot of the previous posts and everyone seems to have very different reactions to having the Mirena removed.  If you are cycling and ovulating it may just be a timing issue.  Many posters like FF for charting.  If you're not cycling and ovulating it may be worth a call to your Dr.  Good luck with #3!
  • I had mine removed at the end of November. I'm on my 3rd cycle post removal and nothing yet. I'm charting so I know when I ovulate but just nothing yet. This month is pretty much a bust for me since DH will be gone during my fertile window.

Everyone is different. My sister got pregnant right away and lots of people do so you just have to keep trying.

  • When I had my Mirena removed my hormones went nuts!!! My cycles were always like clockwork (yes I had periods on Mirena blah) and then they were all over the place. I drank red raspberry leaf tea which seemed to help regulate everything. My cycles returned to normal quickly after I started drinking it and I was able to conceive. Good luck!

  • It can take a healthy couple up to a year to get pregnant- some couples get pregnant right away, some do not. There are some women who get pregnant immediately following their Mirena removal, and some who do not. It just varies and there is no "usual" specific to Mirena. If you are looking for averages you might get more responses on 1st tri- you will get some here, but probably more elsewhere.
Personally, I got mine removed in October 2011 and here I am.
    Good luck.

  • It is different for everyone. My experience was I had it removed and was pregnant within a week. I lost that pregnancy at 13wks. I know my experience was very abnormal and for us it was unexpected.

  • I cant answer your question yet, but from what I have been hearing your body usually goes back to how it was before the IUD.  I got mine out at the end of January and so far that seems to be true for the most part.  My cycle has been pretty normal except that I was spotting for over a week after AF up until I ovulated.  Have your cycles been normal for you since you had it removed?
