Sleeping/Diaper Question

Hi ladies, happy friday!

I have a sleep related question. My now 8 week old has started sleeping through the night (9pm to 5am) for the last week. Previous to that she would wake up once around 3am, eat, new diaper, then back to sleep.

Normally at 5am I change her and she's either wet or wet and recently pooped. Just this morning I went in, fed her and changed her only to find that the diaper was totally dry. Has anyone else's baby gone this long without wetting a diaper? Should I be worried about dehydration? She has a lot of wet and dirty diapers during the day for what its worth.

Thanks.

  • I wouldn't worry about it.  One time is not a big deal.

This. DS1 is almost 2 and this still happens sometimes.

  • My LO is 6 weeks old and has done this twice. It's pretty normal to have it happen every now and again. The time to worry is when they keep staying drying for long periods of time more during the day at this age.

  • My dd is 12 weeks and this happened once just last week. I was shocked that her diaper was dry after all night. But the next diaper was not and everything stayed normal. I wouldn't worry about just 1 diaper.
  • My lo has a dry diaper most times after sleeping through the night.. Inever.thought of it as an issue

  • Thank you everyone! It just seems like such a long time for an 8 week old to not pee, but I feel better after seeing everyone's responses. She has had two wet diapers so far this morning so everything seems to be in working order. I know little girls can get UTIs fairly easily so its something I've tried to watch out for.

    Have a great holiday weekend!

Ditto. DS is almost 3 and he's not potty trained yet. Whenever I see the dry diaper I think either 1) he's ready to be potty trained or 2) he's dehydrated. Then, the next night, it's back to a fully soaked diaper in the morning.

If it's consistent, I'd talk to your pedi about it. Just make sure that she's having plenty of wet diapers during the day too.
