DD2's head always measured small, 10th percentile on ultrasounds while pregnant. It was 10th percentile when she was born, 25th percentile at her 1 month. Just had her 2 month and it jumped to 85th percentile. Now, her height did the same thing in the last month, so it is proportional or I suspect the nurse did a bad job meausring at her 1 month? The doctor said she was growing fine at the appt, but I did not see the percentile numbers until after we left the appt. Now I'm worrying a little even though I know these measurement can have a margin of error. I thought it was maybe a sign of something when the head size jumps rapidly like that? I'm going to call the nurse so I stop worrying, but wondering if anyone else has input or has had this happen with their LO?

Re: Head Circumference Jumped
Baby measurements are impossible to get completely accurate each time. My friend's DS had that happen and then the next appt his head "shrunk." I would think your LO had a jump since her height went up a lot too, but don't be surprised if next time there isn't much head growth. I wouldn't think too much about it.
Not sure on the head as my doc has never referenced a percentile for this. However, at her appt the nurse asst person measured it and said wow a big jump, lets double check and it was almost an inch smaller when he measured it again. It was human error, perhaps this happened in your situation too but the person didn't realize and therefore didn't measure a second time?
My docs do not believe in height measurement - it is very inaccurate because the babies squirm around so much and their legs are kind of stretchy. My ped said height can be off by as much as 4 inches? That seemed a bit of an exaggeration to me.
DD "shrank" one inch in height from her hospital measurement to her doc appt 2 days later. She has been measuring bigger each time since then so we aren't worried.
