Night 2 of hell

Last night was a 4 hour of sleep night. It was the first night of arms free swaddle since he started to roll. So I'm assuming tonight will suck too. I'm within an inch of my sanity. Paci doesn't help, it's super snug around his middle, music, white noise, everything! I don't know what else to do. How long is it going to take to get back to good sleep?! He was sleeping 9 or 10 to 4 or 5...

Re: Night 2 of hell

  • Feel free to tell me to shove it, but would there be any harm in going back to the swaddle and using a sleep positioner or rolled up towel to keep him from rolling? He's still so young and might just still need the security of a swaddle at night. But then, we're an extended swaddling family. My older one was swaddled until around 5 months and the end is nowhere in sight for little sis. Once their startle reflex goes away they won't wake themselves up with all the arm flailing but it doesn't usually fade until a little later.

  • Sorry, that really stinks!

Does he roll while swaddled? If not, I don't see why you can't swaddle still.

Also, I wouldn't recommend a positioner or anything like one, too many problems with them. Google and you'll see articles about it.

  • I'm still swaddling our lil' guy. I don't usually for naps during the day (well sometimes I use a swaddle strap if he's very fussy and needs to sleep), but mostly he will wake himself up by biffing himself in the face.

I've seen him roll belly to back, but not often or regularly. I got a video baby monitor off Amazon when I saw him do this because I too was afraid of him rolling with the swaddle.

Since then however I still swaddle at night and he has never rolled over. I think he's too comfy. I've seen him scootch down, end up diagonal and even pull his arms out (first one then the other) but never roll in swaddle.

Might be worth trying again or just doing one arm and seeing how it goes.

    Good luck tomorrow night!

  • Oh, and yes he rolls while swaddled so we had to stop unfortunately. Just decided to do all this rolling yesterday.
