Walker suggestions

So we just bought a house but the main floor is beautiful hickory wood and I really wanted to get DD a walker. Anyone know if they would scratch up our wood floors or if there's a good brand or model that would roll smooth and be gentle on the floor?

Re: Walker suggestions

  • Can you maybe do an exersaucer or jumparoo instead? I've heard they can be safer...and then your floors would stay pretty!

  • So, a few things.  IMO walkers aren't unsafe.  Your kid will walk soon and can just as easily get themselves to dangerous things then so it's a matter of watching them and baby proofing like you will when they're mobile themselves.  Also, walkers are fine for development as long as you're not plopping them in them for  hours a day.  But what I'll say is this - get ready for your floors to get jacked.  Either now or later lol  Push toys will scratch them and soon she'll learn she can push the kitchen chairs around, etc.  I find a new scratch every week :-p

Thank you. I know they can be unsafe but we will have the house as baby proof as possible anyway. I don't expect our floors to stay perfect and I think walkers for a little bit every now and then can be fun. Just wanted opinions on how bad they scratched up floors. We don't need one, just were interested. Idk maybe we will skip it. Lord knows she has enough stuff already! I don't really care if the floors get normal baby wear and tear. We didn't pay to put them in lol
